Today I am very excited! I'm going on a safari in Cameroon. Its for a project I'm working on to help sponsor kids in Africa and all the kids , my friend Ashley , some other coursers, and I are going on a wildlife safari. We are in present time so it should be interesting looking at Africa after the middle ages. I want to learn about the giraffe, they have always been my favorite animal and I would love to learn more about them! I woke up around 12 we are going on a night safari to feed the animals dinner. Ashley and I are staying in an A-frame cabin outside a big camp house where everyone else stayed. Time for breakfast Ashley and I head into the main cabin.
The mess hall is crowd with kids eating LUNCH. I had a small laugh when we where in our pajamas at the lunch table eating cereal and everyone else eating sandwiches. We went to are cabin and got changed and ready. Everyone meet in the mess hall at one. We had a short meeting and then got in a big, gross, old school bus. The car trip was 2 hrs to the safari and it felt like 2 seconds. We were singing, laughing , just having a good time!
When we got on our Sari car it was about 2 PM just when the animals came out to eat. My car contained 7 kids Ashley and I and our guide. We started driving in the savanna. The tall grass was up oh the side if our car. We saw trees scattered across the grass. It was very calm and peaceful so I hopped out of the car. The kids and i had fun playing tag, hide and seek and lots of other games, not to far from the car thought. We were wondering where all the animals were, just as we got into the ca. BOOM! A lion came out chasing a Buffalo! I winced! It was madness the lion pounced up and bit the buffalo....the lion had an early dinner. It was cute because the lion cubs came over and started playing!
I was starting to fell disheartened that we didn't see the giraffe...yet. We drove around some more seeing cheetahs! They were also cubs running around and having fun! The day was almost over..and there they were. # giraffes standing out by a tree! We got very close. One was a baby! They have LONG necks longer than I imagined and guess what! They have purple tongues! They can also climb trees! Who knew?!
Today was great! I learned about my favorite animal and had alot of fun in the way! I hope I can come back to Cameroon someday! I love it here from the food to the culture and the people. I'm going to miss thin. My last night was spent under the stars! Next time I come I'm defiantly bringing Zorah along with!
lunch Sounds Funn ! ilove the post ! :)
